Deafweekly published its first issue in October 2004. Since then, the weekly reports have provided the deaf and hard-of-hearing community with an easy and entertaining way to keep up with various news and developments. Deafweekly editor Tom Willard (former editor of Silent News and Newswaves) seeks out news from all around the world and sends out concise reports on a broad range of topics to a subscription list that now numbers around 6,500 readers. This blog was created to give readers an opportunity to respond to the news items and ask questions and learn from one another.
