Jury selection in the Daphne Wright trial should wrap up this week, a week later than first hoped, said the Sioux Falls (S.D.) Argus Leader. Thirty-nine potential jurors have been accepted, about two-thirds of the number needed. Questioning has been slowed by Wright’s minority attributes – she’s black, deaf and a lesbian – and by the fact that the death penalty is in play. Wright, 43, is accused of kidnapping and killing Darlene VanderGiesen, also deaf, in February 2006. If Wright is found guilty, the same jury will decide if she should spend her life in prison or be put to death. source
she deserve to stay in jail for life why she killed a person dont give her a freedom she has to learn her lesson
she deserve her punishment with her time in prison since she know better that shall not murder first in place .. therefore she had to stay there that it..so she have to learn her lesson God dont pleasure for her doing with murder with human being..
I am really sorry to hear horrible news. She was the first time to make her a big mistakes and made her hard lessons. Deaf lady should not be infuriated to slay the victim. Court and Jury may not put her to death because of bias against her ” Black, Deaf, Woman”. That is apparently prejuide. Why does not let her deserve to stay in a long life in jail rather than put to death. Same other prisioners murdered one to two degrees, they stayed in the long time jail without releasing her. So Jury and court will need to re- deliberating before final decision is made the right things.

The nature of crime Daphne Wright had committed shall be treated the same way in the acts of state/federal laws as they do with hearing people who committed any kind of crimes and being sentenced for life or death, if there are an evidence of crimes she committed. Please don’t pity anyone who committed crimes (deaf or hearing), they simpley BROKE the laws, period. So, don’t allow criminals running around on the street. Daphne is still under God’s hands and allow Him to be the One who do all the judgements, either she lives in the prison for life or put to death.
I knew Daphane that her old sn was BUTCHY63 in DU and DW in the past she is not very nice person and she liked to hurt an innocent deaf people in chat room. I feel that Daphne should be put to death because she killed Darlene V. thats Darlene’s life lost that NOT FAIR. Dapane should put to DEATH ROW.
